My Specialties
Anxiety And Stress Management
Anxiety can cause tightness in your chest, a pit in your stomach, and cycles of negative thoughts to spin through your head. Constant worries and overwhelming pressure from life demands can lead to avoidance behaviors. Anxiety can keep you from pursuing jobs and relationships. I help my patients develop coping skills to manage and reduce symptoms of anxiety, while also working to understand its roots to effect lasting change. I also focus on stress management techniques and self-soothing behaviors. I can help you live in the present, feel at peace, and not feel trapped by your anxiety.
Evidence Based Therapy FOR MOOD
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to help manage and improve mood challenges. CBT focuses on challenging negative self-talk and maladaptive patterns. Using CBT, I help my patients find effective ways to identify, recognize and challenge distortions and irrational thought patterns. DBT focuses on four major skills: mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and emotion regulation. I help my patients recognize how they are feeling, learn skills to reduce emotional reactivity, and learn adaptive coping strategies. Both CBT and DBT focus on behaviors that can be implemented to improve low mood and regulate emotions.
Life Transitions
Life transitions are a normal part of our journey, yet can often be accompanied by higher degrees of stress, challenges to our mental health, and a sense of feeling overwhelmed. You could be going through a career change, a relationship shift, assessing life goals, moving, or entering a new chapter in life – the adjustment period during times of change can be difficult. I will be able to help you identify your strengths, develop new coping skills, and process feelings that come up during the transitional period.
Maternal Mental health
Women face a variety of new challenges as they navigate motherhood. The transition to parenthood is often an exciting, yet an overwhelming life transition. Reproductive years can often be accompanied by anxiety and depression while managing pregnancy, infertility, miscarriage, and the new demands of motherhood. My goal is to help support mothers during their fertility journey, as well as throughout motherhood and the challenges mothers face trying to balance the needs of their family, their work, and their own well-being.
College and Graduate Students
During your 20s, there can be immense academic pressure, major career decisions, changing friendships, breakups, fear of failure, and many choices to make. This time in your life can feel confusing, overwhelming and bring up feelings of uncertainty. Additionally, young adults often face family pressures and internal fears as you prepare for the next stage in your life. I help students gain a better understanding of personal and career goals, develop stress management techniques, setting boundaries with friends or family members, and provide a space for identity exploration.
